Low initial CAPEX is key to enabling many small
sites with DSL, but there must also be a low cost
path to higher port counts and increased backhaul
capacity, as required. All of this must be possible
while retaining an easy migration to IP, when the
time is right. Backhaul Aggregators are the solution.

Two C8as or
C24as DSLAMs can be connected together, sharing
a single ATM backhaul, and forming a ‘virtual’ DSLAM
with twice the port count.

Backhaul Aggregators further extend this scalability
by providing a path to higher port counts and backhaul
capacity. By connecting up to five expandsl Central
Office DSLAMs to a Backhaul Aggregator, an even
larger ‘virtual’ DSLAM with a higher-capacity backhaul
is created.

Whether it be T1/E1 IMA-4, OC-3/STM-1 or Gigabit
Ethernet with all-IP operation, there is a Backhaul
Aggregator to suit.

Features

· Connects up to five C8as DSLAMs
for 40 ADSL ports

for 120 ADSL ports
· T1/E1 IMA-4, OC-3/STM-1 and
Gigabit Ethernet variants
· Fully temperature hardened
without any moving parts
· Remote software download capability
provides for evolution in standards
· A Backhaul Aggregator + DSLAMs
are treated as a single virtual network
element in eEms

Benefits

· Provides high scalability of
subscribers ports
· Allows backhaul to be grown
as bandwidth demand increases
· Allows for matching of backhaul
capacity with bandwidth demands
· Provides a clear migration
path to all-IP networks and high-bandwidth applications
such as video
